Cherise

Cherise is a Cambridge AS & A Level Psychology and Sociology specialist tutor with a background in Psychology, Counselling and secondary education. She works with students who need more than simply going through the syllabus. Particularly those who want to strengthen their understanding, improve their written responses and become more confident handling higher-level exam questions. Her teaching is discussion-based and analytical. Rather than asking students to memorise large amounts of theory, Cherise encourages them to understand why a theory matters, how it can be applied, and how different perspectives can be evaluated. She uses real-world examples and questioning to help students develop their own arguments and communicate them clearly.

Cherise believes that students learn best when they are actively involved in the lesson. She asks questions, encourages discussion and adapts her explanations when something isn't making sense. Her lessons are structured around the individual student. Some students may need to rebuild their understanding of the fundamentals, while others are already achieving well and need more challenging discussion, stronger evaluation or help taking their essays to the next level. Cherise has received formal school-based training in examination preparation, including assessment objectives, examination technique and mark-scheme interpretation. She works with students on past papers, essay planning, structured responses and the application of theories and evidence. Rather than simply correcting answers, she helps students understand why an answer gains marks and what they need to change to move towards a stronger response. This can be particularly useful for students who understand the content but find it difficult to translate their knowledge into high-quality examination answers.
