Extra lessons and extra classes online

One-to-one subject lessons outside school hours. We match a tutor to your child's curriculum - CAPS, IEB, Cambridge, or IB - and you meet them online before you book.

What families book extra lessons for

School still teaches the subject. Extra lessons are the extra hour for the part your child needs to work on.

  • Catch up on a topic

A concept from class did not stick. A tutor goes back over it at your child's pace, then sets practice on that topic.

  • Prepare for an exam

June exams, prelims, or final papers. Lessons use past questions and the mark scheme for the board your child is writing.

  • Stay ahead of the class

Extra lessons are not only for learners who are behind. Some families book a weekly session to keep a subject secure.

Choose the curriculum first

The tutor has to teach that subject on that board. A Cambridge English tutor is not the right match for IEB English Home Language.

How booking works

  1. 1

Tell us the board and the subject

Curriculum, grade, and up to three subjects. Home Language and First Additional Language are different papers, and so are Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy.

  2. 2

    We match a tutor

The tutor needs to teach that subject on that curriculum. An IEB Maths tutor is not automatically the right match for CAPS Maths.

  3. 3

    Meet them before you book

The Meet and Greet is free. If the fit is right, you book one-to-one lessons around the school timetable.

By grade

Grade pages are for CAPS or IEB. Pick the board your child is on.

By city

Lessons are online. These pages are for families in each city, not for a tutor who drives to the house.

Questions parents ask

What are extra lessons in South Africa?
Extra lessons, also called extra classes, are subject help outside the school timetable. Families book them to catch up, prepare for exams, or keep a subject secure. Ours are private one-to-one lessons, not an afternoon class run by the school.
Are your extra lessons online?
Yes. Lessons are online, so a learner in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria, Durban, or a smaller town can work with a tutor who teaches their curriculum. You need a device with a camera and a microphone.
Which curricula do you cover?
CAPS and the DBE NSC papers, IEB papers, Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge International AS and A Level, and the IB. Tell us the syllabus when you enquire. IGCSE, AS, and A Level are separate qualifications.
Do you offer group extra lessons?
The usual lesson is one-to-one, so the tutor can work on your child's gaps. If you want a small group for siblings or friends, say so on the enquiry and we will tell you whether that is possible.
Will the tutor do my child's assignments?
No. Tutors explain the work, practise similar questions, and give feedback. They do not write school-based assessment, coursework, or any other assessed task for the learner.
When should we start?
You can start mid-term or before June exams, prelims, or finals. Earlier is easier if there is a gap from a previous term. The price depends on the grade, subject, and tutor, and we confirm it at the Meet and Greet.
